Glad it was such a great gig and that all you Finnish fans finally got to see Sparks.
The Moomins thing is really weird; before the Islington gigs started I had a few dreams about them, which were all odd in their own way (as dreams usually are; mine anyway!). One of them was that all we gold ticket holders were given a sort of 'reception' at which there were lots of different sorts of cake. Two of the cakes were huge and in the shape of Moomins. At the time I thought 'how odd, wonder where that came from, I've never associated Sparks with the Moomins'. Now I know....
Spooky or what??

I bought a present to R&R before the gig, guess what it was, Alison.....
The Moomin mugs!!! Really spooky...
And today I was in the Moominworld with my 3-years-old! This must have a deeper meaning...
And thank you Marko and Alex for the clips and pics, marvelous stuff! _________________ Live fast and die young

LOL! I love this clip! Thanks!
@jill: Russell says in Finnish, with a very good accent: I am Russell, I love the reindeers and ? and Moomin and salmiakki (a Finnish candy, kinda salt liquorice) and Iittala ( a finnish glassware manufacturer) and Fazer ( a Finnish candy manufacturer)...and Finland! I can hear me screaming, I'm the one who screams the loudest, lol!
Great photos, Mr.Normal!!!

You're right! At least he says "juustoa" ! But is sulatejuusto a Finnish thing? Maybe he means leipäjuusto?
vocabulary:
sulatejuusto= cheese spread
juusto= cheese
leipäjuusto= a Finnish cheese specialty that looks like the skin of a Dalmatian dog but is very delicious IMO

Wow! Very grateful to hear so much about the Helsinki concert. During the 21x21, I had the pleasure of listening intently to fans from afar (including Finland) explain how Sparks profiled in their own countries and states. I had been wondering how it would go in Finland. And, its all so good! From when I first started on the website, I was aware that Finland is one of the foremost countries in the world of Sparks. Thank you so much Missy, Mr Normall, Marko L and all you other Finnish fans for taking the time to share this experience with the rest of our world.
And, Alex K, that was awesome! I raise a glass in admiration.. |

Thanks, allydodd! Like I said in another thread: after this splendid visit of Sparks, we can call Finland a civilisation ;-) _________________ Live fast and die young

Great to see all your posts Missy and Alex and Scarlett (I'm probably the white bearded whatsit (my beard's actually red). Especially thanks for Alex for the videos on youtube, what a great way to remember the gig by! I was overjoyed, because the concert was absolutely fantastic. Who could have thought that Sparks are now - as they were in 74-75, when I bought their three consecutive vinyl lps - on the top of the game, an overwhelmingly creative and exciting and humorous and friendly duo of brothers & band.
I saw Alex and his russian friends coming to the door of Tavastia, but unfortunately didn't congratulate him on his great Sparks shirt. If i'd have known anyone there, I could have given a free spare ticket to the show, because I was also working for the press so I got on the guest list. I got to speak to Mr. Ron Mael, and he was very kind and open. My concert review and interview (and also review of the new record) were published last week and now I've put them into my home page www.kotisivuni.net/busterkino - see sections Musiikki and Haastattelut. I'm going to put more photos to the pages soon and also pictures of the three cd autographs I got from Ron. And he very nicely also offered to get Russell's signature too, so now I've got both. Theyll appear soon in the section Eki-setä. Unfortunately the stories are only in Finnish... I've been a Sparks fan as long as I've been Buffy Sainte-Marie fan (Morrissey likes her!) and John Cale fan (he had a concert at Tavastia summer 2006). _________________ ~(;^)~ |

That's it, nightporter!!!! Sibeliusta! You are a genius! Of course! I am a dumb-a** and also deaf!!! I was so stuck in that cheese-thing that I couldn't see any other possibilities. Thanks!
@buster: Cool, Hannu, Coooool!! Especially Ron's interview, I loved it! _________________ Live fast and die young
